- Further details about the new programs, including detailed guidelines and deadlines, will be announced in the coming weeks
October 28, 2026 — The Independent Production Fund (IPF) is pleased to announce that YouTube is providing funding to the IPF to support the launch of new programs designed to help Canadian creators take their growth to the next level. These programs will target two distinct creator groups:
The YouTube Northern Emerging Creator Level-Up Program will provide emerging creators based in Canada’s Northern Territories with both grants and skills training to help firmly establish their digital-first creator businesses.
The YouTube Canadian Creator Level-Up Program will provide Canadian creators/businesses based anywhere in Canada and already on a proven growth trajectory with grants and other support to help scale their businesses.
More details regarding these new programs will be announced in the coming weeks.
“The creator economy represents a decisive opportunity for Canada to strengthen its independent creative sector and its presence on the global stage, bringing new voices to audiences worldwide and opening up entrepreneurial pathways beyond traditional models of production and distribution. For these creators to realize their full potential, the industry needs to recognize not only the value of their work but also the businesses they are building around it. YouTube’s investment acknowledges this opportunity and aligns with the IPF’s commitment to supporting creators as they shape an evolving industry. By bringing together YouTube’s investment and the IPF’s experience in funding independent talent, we have an opportunity to help Canadian creators build sustainable businesses, strengthen their creative independence, and contribute to the long-term vitality of our creative sector.” – Emilia King, Board Chair, Independent Production Fund
“Canada’s creator economy is a powerhouse of economic growth and cultural contribution. In 2025 alone, YouTube’s ecosystem contributed over $2 billion to Canada’s GDP and supported more than 35,000 full-time jobs. We believe Canadian creator growth can be fueled even further with the right support. That’s why YouTube is proud to support the launch of these new programs with the Independent Production Fund (IPF). Funding programs like these are important to helping Canadian creators take their businesses to the next stage of growth. Alongside this work, we’ll continue collaborating with government partners and cultural leaders to champion the creator economy, break down barriers, and ensure Canada backs the amazing entrepreneurs who are carrying our stories to the world.” – – Nicole Bell, Head of YouTube Canada
Further details about the new YouTube Creator Level-Up Programs, including program structures and eligibility requirements, and application deadlines will be announced in the coming weeks.
