In 2018, Cogeco redirected its annual BDU contributions to the IPF and established the Cogeco TV Production Program under the IPF umbrella to continue its support for television series.  Since then, 106 projects have received a total of $19M in production funding.

In accordance with CRTC requirements, the IPF is required to allocate at least 10% of the total budget of contributions it receives from all regulated broadcasting undertakings to a permanent envelope dedicated to OLMC producers (in either official language) and producers from diverse communities. To support this process, the IPF has partnered with the Canada Media Fund (CMF), which is assisting the IPF by providing demographic data analysis and reporting in aggregate using its PERSONA-ID self-identification system.

Since its inception, the IPF has distributed over $100M to more than 1000 projects, including the production of more than 750 series and the development of more than 200 series.

The IPF is incorporated as a charitable foundation with an endowment valued at approximately $40M. It uses the interest generated by the endowment and return on its project investments for its annual operations and project funding. The IPF Board of Directors is composed of representatives from the industry and makes all final funding decisions.
