April 29, 2026 – The Independent Production Fund (IPF) Board of Directors have approved financing for 21 scripted short form series as part of its 2026 Short Form Series Development Program. These series are being developed primarily for digital platforms and channels, with 14 projects in English and 7 in French.

The Program supports the development of high-quality, original, Canadian scripted short-form episodic content. In addition to providing development funding, selected project teams will have access to resources and benefits available through the IPF’s Industry Development Partnerships, including opportunities fostered through its network of Canadian audiovisual industry partners.

A total of 210 eligible applications were submitted from across 10 provinces and 1 territory, including 14 applications from Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs).

More than 40 analysts from across the country participated in evaluating the submissions, offering a wide range of perspectives. Evaluators assessed projects based on originality, authenticity, quality of written materials, the creative team’s experience, the expertise of the story editor and/or development executive, the proposed budget, and the overall potential for success.

The 21 selected projects span a wide range of genres, including children’s animation, comedy, drama, horror, musical, science fiction, and fantasy, and represent a wide diversity of creators and producers.
